Demonstrators in the city of Kut have raised concerns about fuel shortages and abnormal price hikes on the black market, urging the government to resolve the crisis rapidly. Angry protestors incinerated tyres in front of a filling station and threatened to set another one on fire in protest against the fuel shortages. An oil industry source confirmed there were shortages but condemned what he called acts of sabotage against oil facilities and filling stations. He added that provincial officials were concerned about the fuel crisis, but had yet to find a solution.
