Editorial: The light at the end of the tunnel

Security developments show negative and positive signs: the clashes between American forces and Sadrists in Sadr city and the readiness of the Iraqi security forces to confront the terrorists in Falluja, Anbar, Mosul, and other areas. What's pleasing is that the residents of these areas have started to oppose the insurgents and to protect their neigbourhoods. The international community is preoccupied with Lebanon and has no time to support us that much, so we have to depend on ourselves. We must do our utmost to extricate ourselves from the minefield in which we've suddenly found ourselves. If we want a better future for our children and country, we have to improve national reconciliation and expose terror groups.
