Presidential spokesman Karim Rahimi has told a press conference that President Hamed Karzai’s objective in launching Transparency Week is to promote accountability within the government. In the course of the week starting November 20, government bodies will be required to report on their activities over the past year to the media and journalists. Each government agency has been given 20 minutes’ airtime by the national radio and TV station to explain its activities, and there will also be a press conference for reporters.
