Militia commander hands in Stinger missile near Kabul

A local commander in the Shakar Dara district in the north of Kabul province handed over a quantity of arms including a Stinger missile to the local police headquarters on December 14, officials said. The Afghan interior ministry said Mohammad Ayaz, a former mujahedin commander in Shakar Dara, also handed over five Kalashnikov assault rifles and other types of arms and weapons. A militia commander in the central province of Bamian is also reported to have surrendered some weapons to the provincial disarmament commission.
