The health ministry has doubled the quota of medicines and medical supplies allocated to Sadr City [Baghdad district] to meet the increasing demand in hospitals there after the bombings which caused so many casualties. A spokesman for the ministry said the decision was made after minister Ali al-Shummari toured hospitals in the district. The minister ordered that these hospitals should get an emergency allowance of supplies. He distributed the “prime minister’s award” of one million Iraq dinars per person to each of the injured patients, saying that the terrorists aimed to spread chaos and split the united Iraqi nation.
