Tens of families living on the outskirts of Samarra have been displaced from their neighbourhoods after many migrant birds died in the area. They left their houses for fear of bird flu. Resident Mohammed Ibrahim, 36, left his neighbourhood, al-Qalaa, six kilometres south of Samarra, to the city centre with his wife and two children after many birds died in his area. He said he was afraid that his children were infected with the disease. A medical official at Samarra hospital, Dr. Khalid al-Abbasi, said four patients suspected of having bird flu were sent to Baghdad.
