By August 26 the Kyrgyz government will have produced its final proposal for privatising the Kambarata hydroelectric power stations, the Severelektro distribution company, and the power station and distribution company that provide Bishkek with heat.

The plan will either be to sell off the distribution side of these energy enterprises to a strategic investor, lease it out, or arrange an asset management deal.

Parliamentarians have delayed making a decision on the final stage of the electricity privatisation strategy, saying that earlier restructuring of these companies has left the power industry poorly managed.
