International tourism fairs organised by the Kyrgyz government will take place in Bishkek and Osh on May 25-29 in a bid to attract more foreign travellers.

Over one million people, mostly from Kazakstan and Russia, are expected to flock to Lake Issykkul, the main tourist location, this summer. The government has made it a priority to develop tourism in other parts of the country, and wants to attract more visitors to Silk Route destinations in southern Kyrgyzstan.
