Lawmaker Criticizes the Government

The head of the national assembly's financial committee, Adnan al-Janabi, said Iraqis are disappointed with the national assembly. He said (prime minister Ibrahim al-Ja'afari’s) government failed to deliver the promises it made to the Iraqi people regarding (improving) security issues, services and unemployment. He added that Ja'afari violated the parliamentary system when approved (extending) the presence of foreign forces in Iraq without first referring to the national assembly. He called for the prime minister and interior minister Bayan Jabr to be questioned regarding the scandal (over tortured prisoners) at the Jadiriyya jail.
