Afghanistan to build prison for ex-Guantanamo detainees

Cheragh is an independent daily run by the Development and Democracy Association.

Afghan president Hamed Karzai has said his government is to build a new prison to hold individuals transferred from the United States detention centre in Guantanamo Bay. According to media reports, the US military is to send hundreds of Afghans held at Guantanamo back to their country. Karzai said the prison would be finished within two years. Karzai also insisted that al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is not in Afghanistan.
