Volunteers flock to join the army as tensions continue to escalate.
Fighting has continued to rage between Azerbaijani and Armenian-backed soldiers in the border regions of Nagorny Karabakh.
In Karabakh, hundreds of volunteers flocked to join the army, with large-scale distribution of ammunition and combat gear.
The ranks of the volunteers include veterans of the war in Karabakh, which ended with a truce but no peace agreement in 1994.
Since then, the ceasefire has held overall, although it has been broken by frequent gunfire and occasional incursions both on the “Line of Contact” around Karabakh and along the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Recent days have seen the worse violence in decades.
